Qi Treatment @ Innersound -- My Story
Having suffered with Asthma quite severely from the age of three, I became quite intimate with the inside of the doctor’s surgery and hospital’s children’s ward. I was prescribed so many different inhalers and tablets over the years that I could have been a contestant on Mastermind, sighting ‘Asthma Medication’ as my specialist subject. I was the kid at school who clutched her blue inhaler like it was made of gold! Increasingly, I became aware that the drugs I was prescribed on the NHS stopped my attacks whilst they were happening, but left my immune system really weak and vulnerable, especially in the winter. This then led to more attacks and other health complications: I felt like I was stuck in a spiral. When I reached my mid to late teens I sought out alternative therapies. I was desperate to stop picking up every cold and virus; every time I found myself with so much as a sniffle, within days it had ‘gone to my chest’ and aggravated my asthma. Eventually, after trying a few different disciplines, I managed to have a bit more control of my asthma with acupuncture. This meant that I was able to reduce my medication, but found that my immune system was still weak:. Although I could now exercise more easily and barely noticed a wheeze all summer, I would still suffer quite badly with my asthma when the seasons changed. I was almost resigned to this as the best I was going to get, but feared the winter more than most people as it would inevitably lead to days off work. As I am a secondary school teacher, my workplace crawls with germs and no matter how healthy a lifestyle I lead, each year a new strain of virus was waiting to take me down. It was the end of the school holidays, I was facing a new school year and the dreaded winter was only a month or two away. I was also experiencing some quite emotionally-draining personal issues at the time: so was not feeling at my best. I thought going to the centre might be a good way to take my mind of my worries for an hour or two. The treatment itself was interesting. I felt immediately peaceful when entering the building, and despite the occasional area of my body that was painful when she pressed into it, and the odd sounds (including burps,) that are part of the Qi Energy treatment, I actually found it quite relaxing. This feeling of calm followed after the treatment and stayed with me for some time. Interestingly, I found that I wasn’t feeling so tense about my worries, I felt as though I was actually able to cope with stress a lot more effectively. I also felt really healthy, not a wheeze in sight. The weeks progressed, the leaves fell from the trees and winter wrapped its cold and damp fingers around the country: but still I hadn’t had to use my inhaler. I watched as slowly my colleagues and the students started sneezing and coughing, dragging their tired and infected bodies around the school, and still I was fine. It was not until the leaves started to reappear and I was able to walk outside without a coat that I realised that I had actually had my very first winter without a virus, my first winter without an attack of asthma. I actually remember the moment that this realisation occurred. I was walking on the beach by my house and I felt so surprised I had to sit down to take it all in. I realised I did not have to endure winters feeling sluggish, being wheezy and having to take time off work: it was truly a magical moment. That was six years ago and I am still far healthier than I have ever been. I have never had a winter again like I used to. Although I have occasionally had to use my ventolin inhaler, I can now count on one hand how many times this is in a year. I only use my preventative inhaler for a few weeks a year, and only if I have got a cold, but this is quite a rare occasion. In fact I have not had to do that yet this year, and did not need it last year either. I have been back to the Qi Energy a couple of times for a ‘top up’ treatment and I always recommend it to absolutely anyone and everyone who I know who has asthma, well actually anyone who has any medical complaint. It changed my life and I can’t believe that it is not more widely used. I thoroughly recommend it. (Testimonial by Caroline Gilroy) |
